Mysuru zoo lioness undergoes surgery

The lioness Rakshita, who had fallen sick owing to severe uterine infection, has undergone a major surgery, according to the Mysuru zoo management.

The 15-year-old lioness was suffering from the infection that is said to be a fatal condition in feline species.

The zoo’s veterinary team identified the problem and an emergency surgery was conducted on March 16. The carnivore has recovered from the anaesthesia and is under post-operative care and close observation of the vet team, a press release from the zoo said.
