Mysuru Dasara exhibition premises will be revamped at a total cost of Rs. five crores.
Over 145 new shops will be constructed on the premises and the structures will be designed in such a way that it could be removed at any time after some years and other structures can be built in the area. Over 100 shops have been demolished and 45 stalls are in dilapidated condition.
Landscaping will be carried out at a cost of Rs. one crore in front of the Exhibition premises and the Nurserymen co-operative society, Lal Baugh had been assigned the job of carrying out the landscaping. Apart from landscaping at the entrance, an artificial water fall, lawn and a flower garden will also be set up.
R. Murthy, Chairman of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority and K.L. Basavaraju, Chief Executive Officer, KEA, said that 1,388-meter road in the exhibition premises had been deteriorated and hence the KEA had decided to lay a thin, white topping of concrete cement road to ensure durability of roads inside the exhibition premises at a total cost of Rs. 130 lakhs. Now few important roads will get white topping of cement concrete at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs. Two pavilions in the exhibition premises were in bad shape, they said adding that both the pavilion would be thoroughly repaired at a total cost of Rs. 40 lakhs.
Rain-water harvesting units will be set-up in the exhibition premises at a total cost of Rs. one crore, Mr. Murthy said adding that Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable technology at the National Institute of Engineering have been assigned the work of installing the unit.
Apart from this, the KEA has plans to set up models of ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ in the exhibition premises to attract more tourists to the exhibition from this year.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for the developmental works on Friday.
