Devotees have set up six dining halls to offer food to those visiting Shravanabelagola during Mahamastakabhisheka. Hundreds of people are having food in the dining halls thrice daily.

Jain Sanghas from Athani in Belagavi district, Mandya, Tumakuru, Sagar in Shivamogga, Nalluru in Udupi district and Hosadurga in Chitradurga district are looking after each dining hall. On Thursday, while devotees from Athani offered avalakki and halwa for breakfast, the devotees of Tumkuru had upma and kesari bath.

“We prepare different food items every day. Hundreds of people come have food and appreciate the taste,” said a volunteer at a dining hall maintained by devotees from Udupi.

The Jain Mutt has received a huge quantity of food grains from donors for the event. The mutt provides foodgrains to kitchens, where volunteers look after food preparation and serving. Separate arrangements for drinking water have been made at each dining hall.

The number of people having food at the dining halls would be more in the evenings when cultural events are held.
