Loan scheme for rainwater harvesting

S. Ravindran, chairman, Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank, has said the bank has introduced a loan scheme of upto ₹1 lakh for installing rainwater harvesting systems and terrace gardens at homes.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, he said that in Vijayapura alone 118 rainwater harvesting units have been installed with financial assistance from the bank.

He said that the first-time loan is also being offered for agriculture tourism.

Mr. Ravindran said that people from urban areas are losing their connect to rural areas and farming.

In order to reconnect them to agriculture, people with farms can set up huts and provide basis facilities to tourists.

He said that the bank has been disbursing loans to women for self-employment without any surety.
