Lecturer’s body donated to hospital

M.R. Usharani (50), a lecturer at the Government Pre-university College at Dudda, of H. Malligere in the taluk, died in a hospital in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Her body was handed over to the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Usharani, a spinster, was admitted to the hospital where she died of prolonged illness. Initially, as per her wishes, family members of the lecturer had decided to donate the cadaver to the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) college.

The MIMS authorities visited H. Malligere and started the procedures to receive the body. However, based on a request from a medical college in Bengaluru, the Victoria Hospital officials approached her family for the body.

Later, in the evening the Victoria Hospital officials collected the body, sources at the MIMS said. Her family members, relatives, friends and students were present.
