Kalaburagi students shine in PU exams

The Sharanabasaveshwar Composite Residential PU College in Kalaburagi did it once again with one of its student Ritu R. Rathod emerging as the district topper scoring 586 out of the total 600 marks in the PU results announced on Monday.

The college also did exceedingly well in the overall results with 467 out of the total 496 students passing the exams.

Veeresh S. of Sharanabasaveshwar College and Goutami Vishaladatta Kohar of the Gurukul PU College emerged second toppers in the district scoring 584 marks each. Geeta Kulkarni of the Sharanabasveshwar Composite Residential PU College and Soumya Inamdar of the Kayaka PU College finished third in the district scoring 578 marks each.

Poonam Nahar of the Gurukul PU College emerged topper in the district in the commerce stream scoring 568 marks out of the total 600.

Sri Guru Vidyapeetha PU College achieved a 97.57 per cent pass percentage. Al-Sharay PU College achieved a 98 per cent pass percentage. There has been a marked improvement in the performance in the PU examinations in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

Kalaburagi district improved its performance and ranking from 29th place last year to 23rd position this year. It achieved 61.06 per cent pass result. Yadgir secured a pass percentage of 61.09 per cent. Koppal retained the 27th position by achieving a pass percentage of 58.36 per cent.
