Illegally hoarded pulses seized in Kalaburagi, Bidar

Officials raided godowns and warehouses in Kalaburagi and Bidar on Monday and seized pulses.

A total of 19,156 quintals of processed and unprocessed pulses were seized by officials after raiding government and private warehouses and godowns in Kalaburagi.

According to A.T. Jayappa, Deputy Director of the Food and Civil Supplies, the officials raided 21 government and private warehouses and godowns in various parts of the district and seized 1,496 quintals of unprocessed red gram, 198 quintals of processed red gram, 3008 quintals of unprocessed Bengal gram and 9,215 quintals of processed Bengal gram. As many as 99 quintals of processed green gram, 4,591 quintals of unprocessed green gram and 597 quintals of black gram were seized on Monday.

Illegal

Officials raided godowns and seized 1, 568 quintal of illegally hoarded food grains from traders in Bidar.

A team led by the Assistant Commissioner seized 6.5 quintals of red gram from Shiva Grain Merchants in Gandhi Gunj and 1,200 quintals of red gram from Manish Dal Mill.

Officials also seized 205 quintals of red gram from V.K. Dhannur and 158 quintals of red gram from Mahadev Siddalingappa of Koudagaon from the State Warehousing Corporation’s ware house as proper documents were not produced by the owners, according to a release
