A two-member Division Bench of the Gulbarga Bench of the Karnataka High Court directed Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to investigate whether there was more than one applicant for the Post-Graduate diploma seat in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the 2014-15 admission to Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College in Kalaburagi and file a report within two weeks.

The Bench, consisting of Justice L. Narayanaswamy and Justice A.S. Pachapure, heard the petition filed by Shab-be-Mehraj Banu challenging the admission of Devika Sen Gupta to the course and on Tuesday said that a university team should go through the records in the medical college to verify the claims of the petitioner.

The court also directed the university to submit the candidates’ marksheets for the entrance examinations and the date of admission to the course. It also wanted to know whether the university had approved the admission of the candidate to the course and adjourned the case for further hearing to January 19.
