Six persons were injured and two cars got damaged in a clash between two groups, which has assumed political colours, at Bage, a village in Sakleshpur taluk, on Friday night.

Rakesh, son of zilla panchayat member Sulochana Ramakrishna of the Janata Dal (Secular), is among the injured. Other injured persons are Punith, Manu, Charles, Sridhar and William. The incident is now being viewed as a clash between the supporters of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress.

Recently, Charles, a Congress supporter, was involved in a clash with Punith, an autorickshaw driver, over some petty issue at Bage.

Punith had filed a complaint with the police against Charles. Rakesh, son of the ZP member, had gone with Punith and supported his complaint. It was said that Charles was angry with Rakesh for supporting Punith.

Charles allegedly hit Rakesh with a knife on Friday evening while the latter was riding on a two-wheeler. Following this, Rakesh and his supporters barged into Charles’s house and assaulted him and damaged his car and some household things, late in the night. Both the groups have filed separate complaints with Sakleshpur Town police.
