Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said that directions had been issued to all government departments to update their websites by March 15.

Launching www.karnatakavarthe.org of the Information Department here, he said that updating the websites would bring in transparency in the functioning of government departments, besides allowing people to make suggestions in improving governance.

He said that the Department of Information has trashed two of its defunct websites and launched the new one.

Describing the new website as user-friendly, he said that media could make the best use of the website, as photographs and news related to various government programmes would be uploaded instantly.

People could access the various publications of the department, including Janapada and March of Karnataka, besides the tenders floated by various government departments.
