Deepa takes charge as Dharwad Deputy Commissioner

M. Deepa took charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad district here on Wednesday.

Outgoing Deputy Commissioner S.B. Bommanahalli, who has been transferred to the post of the general manager for rehabilitation and resettlement under the Upper Krishna Project, handed over charge to Ms. Deepa here.

Ms. Bommanahalli expressed his gratitude to the officials, staff and media for their cooperation during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner here.

Ms. Deepa is a post-graduate in economics from Bangalore University. She is an IAS officer of the 2008 batch. Earlier, she served as Assistant Commissioner in Gadag, Chief Executive Officer of Belagavi Zilla Panchayat, managing director of the Hubballi-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System.

Speaking after assuming charge, Ms. Deepa said that her earlier stint as the managing director of the HDBRTS project helped her get acquainted with local issues. She said that she would receive first-hand information of all departments in the next one month and focus on providing quality administration and also fast-tracking development of the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Maigur, Regional Transport Officer Ravindra Kavali, Tahsildar Prakash Kudari and others were present.
