The officers visited the Dalit colony and tried to inculcate confidence among grieving victims by assuring protection and compensation.

“I have asked the police department to provide protection to the victims. Personnel of District Armed Reserve force will camp in the colony round-the-clock. I will also direct district social welfare officer to look into the case for providing compensation as per the norms,” he said. He also appealed to the people of the village to maintain peace.

Mr. Senthil said that three people accused of assaulting Dalits were arrested and the police were making efforts to nab the rest.

When asked about another case registered against the Dalit victims on a complaint lodged by one of the attackers, Mr. Senthil said that police would file a B-Report in the case after they find it a false complaint. Earlier, Mr. Senthil met the injured victims in Sindhanur government hospital.
