A couple was killed on-the-spot when a car hit the moped, in which they were travelling, near Hirehalli in Tumakuru on Monday.
The police said that the deceased have been identified as Haridas (55) and Suma (50), residents of Kodigenahalli in Tumakuru city and district. They were coming towards Tumakuru at around 11.30 a.m. when the car hit their moped from the rear-end. Due to the impact, both fell on the opposite side of the road and died immediately.
The car driver has been arrested and the car has been seized. A case has been registered in Kyatsandra police station.
