Congress to field Kusuma Shivalli from Kundagol Assembly segment

The Congress has decided to field Kusumavathi Shivalli, wife of C.S. Shivallai, in Kundagol constituency for the bypolls. Bypolls in Kundagol was necessitated following the death of Mr. Shivalli. The candidate for Chincholi seat is former Zilla Panchayat member Subhash Rathod.

Earlier in the day, AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, and other senior leaders held a meeting to recommend these candidates.

Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar has been made in charge of Kundagol constituency and Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara of Chincholi.

The last date for filing nomination in both constituencies is April 29. Bypolls to both constituencies is scheduled on May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
