The Janata Dal (S) and Congress leaders here on Tuesday released a multi-point election pamphlet for Mandya Lok Sabha constituency from where Nikhil K., son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumarswamy, is contesting.

It highlights the achievements of Mr. Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) coalition government and assures the electorate of improving the infrastructure facilities in the constituency besides promising to implement/bring schemes to address the woes of crisis-ridden farming community.

Minor Irrigation Minister C.S. Puttaraju, a veteran JD(S) leader, and former Congress Minister M.S. Atmananda released the pamphlet and urged the party workers to work unitedly for ensuring the victory of Mr. Nikhil in the April 18 elections.

The pamphlet states that the State government has announced over ₹8,000 crore for the development of Mandya district and the government would focus on addressing the prevailing issues. Former Union Minister K.H. Muniyappa, Mr. Puttaraju and others addressed presspersons here and said that Mr. Nikhil would work for the development of Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.

Later, in another press conference, Cooperation Minister and JD(S) leader Bandeppa Kashempur said that Mr. Kumaraswamy has been fulfilling all promises made before last year’s Assembly elections.

‘Farmers benefited’

Expressing confidence of Congress-JD(S) candidates winning in at least 23 parliamentary constituencies in the State, Mr. Kashempur said that at least 7.5 lakh farmers have benefited from the loan waiver scheme implemented by Mr. Kumaraswamy and the remaining would benefit in the coming days.

“We will distribute the pamphlet to the electorate to help Mr. Nikhil emerge winner in the election,” both the party leaders told presspersons.
