Noted musician R.K. Padmanabha has appealed to the State government to buy the house at Arkalgud, where novelist A.N. Krishna Rao (A.Na.Kru.) was living, and develop it into a memorial. Speaking at a seminar on the life and works of A.Na.Kru. at Arkalgud on Sunday, Mr. Padmanabha said that Krishna Rao spent his younger days at Arkalgud. The house where he lived for years had been purchased by a private person. “The purchaser is willing to sell the property to the government, if it evinces interest on developing it into a memorial. The government should consider this idea and talk to the purchaser,” he said.Mr. Padmanabha, noted Carnatic musician, has been conducting music programmes at his native place, Rudrapatna, in Arkalgud taluk. He had staged many protests demanding basic amenities in the taluk.
