The district administration launched a boat service to the marooned Neelakantarayanagaddi island on the Krishna basin near Kakkera village in Hunsagi taluk of Yadgir district on Friday and supplied medicines.

Two residents, Lakshman and Hanumath, who came to the mainland by swimming across the Krishna to purchase medicines were sent back to the island in the boat.

A team of Revenue, Fire and Emergency Services and Police personnel led by Suresh Ankalagi, tahasildar of Surpur, supplied medicines and other household items to the residents of the island.
