Congress leader and former Minister Kumar Bangarappa has hinted that he will contest the Lok Sabha election as a rebel candidate if the Congress fails to give him ticket.

Mr. Bangarappa, who is upset with the party leadership over the denial of ticket to him, held a meeting with his followers here on Saturday to discuss his next course of action. He told presspersons later that he was firm on contesting from Shimoga.

“Majority of the Congress activists in the district have endorsed my candidature and they are of the opinion that I am the right person to take on the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa who is the BJP candidate ,” he said.
