A day after cars were destroyed in a fire accident during the Aero India show, a fire broke out at Jarakabande forest area situated close to Yelahanka air base on Sunday afternoon.

Passers-by noticed thick smoke billowing out of the area and alerted the fire control room.

Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire. The area is around 40 acres of forest land covered with dry grass. The Fire and Emergency Services officials said none was injured in the accident and only a few acres of dry grass were destroyed. The officials suspect that the fire could be owing to heat. But they are not ruling out the possible involvement of mischief mongers.

Sunil Agarwal, Additional Director General of Police, (Fire and Emergency Services) termed it as a minor incident and said fire was contained within an hour of the incident.
