May 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - BELAGAVI:

With reality shows gaining popularity and hidden talents coming to fore all over the country and abroad, Bengaluru-based Leap Media and Entertainment has carved out a platform under the banner ‘Mug to Mike’ for amateur singers and has scheduled its first round of auditions in five cities of the State.

The auditions will be held in Belagavi on May 14 and 15 at Dr. B.S. Jirge Auditorium on KLE University campus in Nehru Nagar. Belagavi-based KLE Society’s College of BCA and MCA is collaborating with the Leap Media on the event, said host college Principal S. Kotrappa at a press conference here on Wednesday.

The late announcement gives aspirants little time to prepare themselves for the auditions. The other cities where the auditions will be held are Mysuru (May 21 and 22), Mangaluru (May 31 and June 1), Hubballi (June 6 and 7) and Bengaluru (June 13 and 14).

The finals will be held at Bengaluru on June 18, 19 and 20. The grand finale will coincide with the World Music Day celebrations in a glittering event in Bengaluru to be attended by film, music and media celebrities on June 21.

The different audition categories will be: Film and Non-film songs; Instrumental (percussion & non-percussion), Lyrics and Band.

Special prizes will be given to unique and creative performers. At the grand finale, there will be a ‘Bathroom Singers Marathon’ from 12 noon till 5 p.m.

Singers, musicians and lyricists wishing to participate in the auditions may call 98452-86308 or send an email to frommugtomike@gmail.com.
