Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said the entire rank and file of BJP was involved in electioneering for the upcoming panchayat polls and the Opposition would get a fitting reply to the land scam charges made against him and his government.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that people of the State would send a “clear message” and give a fitting reply to the allegations levelled by opposition parties against him and his government in the zilla and taluk panchayat polls slated for later this month.
Asserting that he had emerged triumphant from several political crises he faced in the last two years, the Chief Minister claimed he had received an overwhelming response during the first phase of the panchayat election campaign.
Mr. Yeddyurappa was on the brink of being removed as Chief Minister over allegations of nepotism and corruption in land denotifications, but the BJP leadership chose to retain him apparently to prevent any adverse impact on the party’s prospects during the panchayat polls.
He said all BJP leaders were actively involved in the electioneering and working for the success of the party candidates.
The list of party candidates for the first phase of the polls (On December 26) had been finalised and would be released in a day or two.
