36 schoolchildren hospitalised

Around 36 children of the government lower primary school at Lakkanahalli Hatti in Tumakuru taluk were hospitalised after some of them complained of nausea and vomiting after having their midday meals on Monday.

Tahsildar T.C. Kantharaj told The Hindu , “five children complained of nausea and vomiting after they ate rice and sambar.” They were immediately taken to the district government hospital. They are said to be out of danger.

Five children were administered intravenous fluids and the remaining children are all fine, he said.

The Health Department personnel visited the spot and collected samples of the groceries as they could not get the food samples. The samples have been sent for laboratory analysis.
