The district administration has put adequate measures in place to conduct free and fair elections for the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayats, to be held on February 20.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, said that the district has 38 ZP seats and 142 seats in five taluk panchayats— Raichur, Deodurg, Manvi, Lingasugur and Sindhanur. The administration will set up 1,165 polling stations across the district. In Raichur taluk 213 polling stations will be set up, followed by 216 in Deodurg taluk, 247 in Manvi taluk, 238 in Lingasugur taluk and 251 in Sindhanur taluk. As many as 10, 63,341 voters in the district are eligible to cast their franchise.
The Yadgir District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain has directed the officials, who have been deployed for election duty, to implement the orders issued by the Election Commission to prevent any malpractices.
Addressing a meeting here on Monday, Mr. Jain said that the officials have to follow the instructions given them to conduct fair elections and asked to ensure that model code of conduct is strictly implemented.
