A full court reference will be held on Tuesday for former Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, who were both Supreme Court lawyers before they turned to politics.
A full court reference is held for departed senior lawyers and judges of the apex court as a mark of respect and remembrance for their service to the court and the legal profession.
The reference would have Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and all the judges of the apex court assemble in the court room of the Chief Justice at 10.30 a.m. Also in attendance in the open court would be the Attorney General, other law officers, lawyers, friends and family of the departed souls.
Sushma Swaraj and Jaitley died in August.
Sushma Swaraj as a Supreme Court lawyer was part of the legal defence team of George Fernandes during the Emergency period in 1975. She served as the Minister of External Affairs in the first Modi government.
Jaitley was the Additional Solicitor General of India in 1990. He led the Bofors scandal probe as the ASG. He appeared in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court in several important cases.
