Cyclone Fani: CFTRI sends food supplies

Targets to supply 25 tonnes

The Mysuru-based Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), a premier CSIR food laboratory, on Sunday sent the first consignment of relief food to Odisha, which was hit by Cyclone Fani.

Five tonnes of ready-to-eat food packets as a part of the mission for supplying one lakh meals or 25 tonnes of food to the affected people in the coastal state was despatched to Bengaluru by trucks from the CFTRI premises for airlifting them to Bubhaneshwar, a senior official said.
