Suspected militants shot dead a CRPF jawan on Sunday evening in south Kashmir’s Pulwama.

A police spokesman said the militants barged into the house of a local CRPF man, Naseer Ahmad Rather, at Naira village in Pulwama. The victim was home on leave when the attackers came looking for him.“They shot at him near his residence, injuring him critically. He was immediately evacuated to the Pulwama district hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries,” he said. Rather was posted with the CRPF’s 182 Battalion. The police have started a probe into the matter. The incident comes just a day after militants abducted a policeman in Pulwama’s Tral.
