YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate from Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency and former Circle Inspector K. Gorantla Madhav sought Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi’s intervention for resolving the issue arising from the Police Department’s alleged refusal to relieve him from service in spite of applying for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). Mr. Dwivedi has reportedly instructed his officials to look into the complaint. Mr. Madhav told the CEO that A.P. Administrative Tribunal (APAT) gave orders in his favour after he filed a petition with it consequent upon the inaction on his VRS proposal. The government has apparently disregarded the APAT order and it was preventing him from contesting the election.

Speaking to the media persons, Mr. Madhav accused some police officers of thwarting his attempts to take the plunge into the electoral arena on behalf of the YSRCP.
