October 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - SRIKAKULAM:

YSR Congress Srikakulam unit has decided to reach out the rural areas in the district to drum up support for the special status to AP.

The leaders said that they would spread awareness among the villagers on the benefits the State would get, if accorded the Special Category status, adding that many people living in rural areas were ignorant on the issue.

As part of the drive, Former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao launched a bike rally in Srikakulam and asked the local leaders to visit all villages in Srikurmam, Gara, Ampolu, Singurpuram and other areas.

Expressing solidarity with the indefinite fast by the YSRC president, youth and students wings of the party staged a novel protest by breaking 1,000 coconuts at Vanam Gudi of Sri Pydithalli Ammavaru here.

The youth wing leaders took out a huge rally that was flagged off by the party central committee leader P. Sambasiva Raju and district president K. Veerabhadra Swamy at RTC Complex.
