IT and Panchayat Raj Minister and national general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party Nara Lokesh said that he would transform Mangalagiri into a IT hub like Gachibowli in Hyderabad.

At an interactive session with party leaders at Mangalagiri on Friday, the first after getting the ticket, Mr. Lokesh said that the temple town had already witnessed a remarkable transformation after bifurcation with many IT/ITES companies setting up their offices here.

The TDP governmentwould give a unique identification to Mangalagiri handloom saris.

“Our party (TDP) has not won in Mangalagiri since the year 1989 and I want to reverse the trend. I will transform this city into a metro providing opportunities to people,’’ Mr. Lokesh said.

Guntur MP Galla Jayadev said that the candidature of Mr. Lokesh would boost the morale of the party. Earlier, the Minister lashed out at the YSRCP, saying the party had opposed the location of Capital city in Amaravati and had never cooperated with the government.
