The total number of farmer suicides in the last three days in the State touched four, with one farmer in Haveri district and another in Hassan ending their life.

Jagadish Kadeganni (32), who had debts to clear, committed suicide at Kooragund village in Haveri taluk. He had taken loans for managing agricultural operations and to buy a vehicle.

Jagadish had eight acres of land, out of which a part had been acquired for the Upper Tunga Project. However, like other farmers whose land has been acquired for the project, he too had not received compensation.

Jagadish reportedly consumed poison on Friday night. The Guttal police have registered a case. Jagadish is survived by wife, two daughters and a son. On getting the news, police officials visited the village.
