The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders continued their tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Andhra Pradesh, on Friday.
Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao alleged that the Prime Minister spoke in an irresponsible manner with regard to the Polavaram project. The Central Board of Irrigation announced an award to the Polavaram project taking the planning, execution and other aspects into consideration. “While the entire nation was showering praise on the State government for the progress in construction of the Polavaram project, Mr. Modi levelled allegations. We condemn it,” he said.
Utilisation certificates
At another press conference, AP Planning Board Vice-Chairman C. Kutumba Rao made highly critical remarks against the BJP and Mr. Modi. The Prime Minister did not speak the truth in an interview to ANI and all his allegations were baseless. The NITI Aayog had asserted that the State government submitted all utilisation certificates. The Central government, however, was spreading lies that funds were not released due to non-submission of UCs, he said. MLC Buddha Venkanna, addressing a press conference, said that Mr. Modi was unable to see the development in the State. Mr. Modi forgot that he was Prime Minister and working against the Chief Minister by joining hands with opposition parties. Mr. Modi, who has no courage to visit Andhra Pradesh, was trying to portray Mr. Naidu in bad light, he alleged.
