TDP leaders offer prayers to cow, calf

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders on Tuesday evening offered pujas to a cow and a calf here before proceeding to Amaravati. The cow and the calf were donated by Sri Shakti Amman, the chief pontiff of the Golden Temple at Vellore in Tamil Nadu.

Accommodated in a truck, the cow and the calf, were taken from the Golden Temple after special pujas by the pontiff. The donation was made as a goodwill gesture to the new capital and the people of Andhra Pradesh.

The donation was received by TDP leaders at Naraharipeta check post on the Chittoor-Vellore border. Later, the cow and the calf were offered pujas at the busy Gandhi Bomma junction here. District Collector Siddarth Jain issued a permission letter for the smooth transport of the animals to Amaravati.

Chittoor Mayor Katari Anuradha, TDP State panel member B.N. Rajasimhulu and senior TDP leaders took part in the event.
