Sweeping changes in the administrative set-up effected by Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University A. Rajendra Prasad have kicked up a controversy.
The executive committee, which met on March 19 on the ANU premises, took decisions replacing the Registrar, Director, Centre for Distance Education, Controller of Examinations, NSS coordinator, Coordinator, Academic Affairs. However, three key positions have been retained which include Officer on Special Duty (A.V Dattatreya Rao, Dean, CDC, M. Koteswara Rao and Rector KRS Sambasiva Rao)
Professor of English, P. Raja Sekhar, who had served as Registrar for two years, has been replaced by B. John Paul, Professor of Geology. Director, CDE, Ramkumar Ratnam has been replaced by Sankara Pitchaih and K. Veeraiah has been appointed as Controller of Examinations. Madhu Babu, NSS coordinator, has been replaced by Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, PDS Paul Kumar.
Professor of English, K. Ratna Sheilamani, has been appointed as academic coordinator.
The hurried manner in which the changes were made has caused some dent to the prestige of the university
