Taking strong exception to the YSR Congress’s U-turn on Telangana State and the party honorary president Y.S.Vijayamma’s tacit support to the resignations of 16 party MLAs from Seemandhra against the ongoing process for creation of Telangana, party senior leader and former minister Konda Surekha launched a scathing attack on party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Venting ire
Giving vent to her ire over the state of affairs in the party, Ms. Surekha, in an open letter to Jagan, said the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy remained committed to his word and never backed out on his promises. “But Jagan made the contrary his policy to earn lakhs of crores,” she alleged.
Describing YSRC as a private limited company, Ms. Surekha said she gave up her minister’s post, and later, her husband Muralidhar Rao, his MLC post, to solidly back Jagan for the post of Chief Minister in the face of adverse circumstances. Along with them, thousands of their party workers in the Telangana too suffered in the past four years. However, the last straw had been the party going back on its own announcement in the plenary session at Idupalapaya in favour of Telangana. Continuing her tirade, Ms. Surekha said though they had suffered political and financial losses, Ms. Vijayamma’s silence over the party’s U-turn had hurt their self-respect and Telangana people’s sentiment.
The party had only recognised those who functioned as brokers and made money by selling party posts, she alleged.
Ms. Surekha demanded YSRC leaders to spell out its stand on Telangna, whether it was committed to the decision taken during the plenary or was it in favour of united State.
Ms. Surekha’s strongly worded open letter to Jagan is seen here as preparation of ground to go back to the Congress party’s fold shortly. It is learnt that Ms. Surekha and her husband were invited by BJP leaders to join the party.
