The Congress party, both at the Centre and the State, has neglected the will and interests of people in the State bifurcation issue, alleged senior TDP leader and former Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, he demanded that Congress should decide on statehood only after important issues such as State’s capital, water sharing and allocation of funds to the regions were sorted out. “Congress is looking for political gains in the 2014 general elections and is trying to promote Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate.”
He also questioned the legitimacy of decisions taken by the Congress Core Committee in the statehood issue, as the members were not familiar with the problems in Andhra Pradesh. The division of Rayalaseema will not be tolerated at any cost, he added.
Mr. Reddy said that sharing of water will become a bone of contention between Kurnool and Kadapa if Rayala-Telangana is given. “The 22 lakh acres of land in districts like Nellore, Chittoor, Prakasam and Kadapa are sure to turn barren,” he said.
