Students of the Bapatla Agriculture College boycotted classes on Thursday, demanding that the authorities make public the inquiry report on the suicide of a PG student last week.

Maddukuri Surya Rao, a student of M.Sc (genetics and plant breeding) was found unconscious in his room at the PG hostel on September 27.

The student’s father, Veera Raju alleged that a professor had humiliated his son.

Indefinite strike

On Thursday, the students called an indefinite strike and gathered at the college guest house, raising slogans against the management.

Some students claimed that one professor humiliated Surya Rao during practicals. They also accused other professors of being rude to students.

Responding to the protest, the college set up an inquiry committee, which submitted a report.

Bapatla Agriculture College associate dean P.R.K. Prasad told The Hindu on Thursday that action would taken against those responsible for the student’s suicide based on the inquiry report.

“We have no intention of shielding anyone,’’ the associate dean said.
