After showering sops on the social security pensioners, the State government has issued a G.O. sanctioning 10% additional pension to the pensioners / family pensioners on attaining the age of 70, as recommended by the 10th Pay Revision Commission. As per the G.O. No. 6, the additional quantum will be 10% of the basic pension for those in the 70 to 75 age group, 15% of the basic pension for those in the 75 to less than 80 age group, and 20% of the basic pension for those in the 80 to less than 85 age group. Similarly, the additional quantum will 25% of the basic pension for those in the age group of 85 to less than 90 years and 30% for those in the age group of 90 to 95 years.
For those in the age group of 95 to less than 100 years, the additional quantum of pension will be 35% and for those who are above 100 years, it will be 50% of the basic pension. The PRC recommended 15% additional quantum to those who crossed 70 years to reduce the difference in pension paid to the old and new pensioners.
