RTC gears up to meet rush; SCR to run special trains

It seems all roads and tracks are leading Tirupati for the Brahmotsavams at Tirumala, starting from Thursday.

APSRTC’s Tirupati region has made arrangements to transport one lakh passengers everyday, with its fleet of 411 buses making 1,669 trips. For the ghat road operations, the corporation recently introduced 130 new buses, involving an outlay of ₹26 crore.

“We plan to transport 12 lakh passengers between Tirumala and Tirupati,” Regional Manager T. Chengal Reddy announced on Tuesday.

The RTC has roped in 50 officers, 200 drivers and conductors each, 160 security staff and 50 driver trainers for the Garuda Seva day.

To reduce traffic congestion at central bus station, Bengaluru-bound buses will be operated from Annamayya terminal (near Bairagipatteda arch) on September 17 and 18. City services from Renigunta, Chandragiri, Karakambadi and Tiruchanur will be plied directly to Tirumala.

In case of emergency, the following depot managers can be contacted at 9959225670 (Tirupati), 9959225671 (Alipiri), 7893723453 (Mangalam), 9959225672 (Tirumala) and the Deputy Chief Traffic Manager at 9959225662.

South Central Railway (SCR) has announced a special train in the Arakkonam - Renigunta–Chennai Beach route. The Jana Sadaran Special train No.05601 Arakkonam – Renigunta departs at 3 p.m. from September 11 to 20 (10 days) to reach Renigunta at 4.30 p.m.

Train No.05602 Renigunta – Chennai Beach special departs at 5.10 p.m. on the same 10 days to reach Chennai Beach at 9 p.m. Special trains will also be run on the Tirupati-Katpadi and Tirupati-Kakinada routes.

A help desk has also been arranged at the Tirupati station for the benefit of visiting pilgrims.
