Officials of the Legal Metrology Department conducted raids on fertilizer godowns across the State and booked against the manufacturers and stockists for less weight of fertilizer bags than the weight specified on the bags.

According to Inspector General, Legal Metrology, E. Damodar, the officials constituted 25 teams and conducted raids on the fertilizer warehouses located in Kurnool, Prakasam, West Godavari, Nellore, Krishna, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Srikakulam, East Godavari and Kadapa districts on Saturday.

They verified the stock registers of various brands and found variations in weight of the bags.

Farmers are requested to insist for weighing the bags at the time of delivery, and complaints, if any may be made to ‘1100’, the IG added.
