Praja Natya Mandali to hold folk festival from tomorrow

Coinciding with Ugadi, Praja Natya Mandali, an affiliate of Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) will hold a three-day folk festival from March 21 as part of efforts to give a new lease of life to dying folk art forms with special focus on Prakasam culture.

Traditional dance forms including Chenchu Nrityam, Burrakatha, Tholu Bommalata, Dappu, Kollatam and Harikathia would be performed by experts, explained Festival Reception Committee president A.V. Pulla Rao and secretary P. Hanumantha Rao.

Popular folk theatre form of ‘Veedhi Natakam’, Kavitha Goshti, and Satya Harischandra would also be staged.
