Will film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna make a foray into electoral politics in the forthcoming elections in Seemandhra region?
The question is upper most in the minds of the Telugu Desam leaders as the party started releasing lists of its prospective candidates from the Seemandhra region. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, however, evaded a direct reply when asked whether Mr. Balakrishna is being fielded by the party. “I should discuss with him first. I will talk to him soon to find out what his views are on contesting the elections,” Mr. Naidu replied. The comment assumes significance as the TDP had announced the candidature of Nimmala Kistappa from Hindupur Lok Sabha seat, a constituency which actor-turned-politician and his brother-in-law N. Harikrishna was reportedly keen on contesting.
To another question on the party’s star campaigners, Mr. Naidu recalled how Junior NTR had campaigned for the party in the previous elections and said the party would welcome such people who wish to effectively take the party’s message to the grassroots.
Meanwhile, Mr. Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh is all set to launch his campaign for the TDP on April 12. According to a tentative schedule, Mr. Lokesh will launch his campaign from Nimmakur in Pamarru constituency of Krishna district on Saturday.
