Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu lit the Sankalpa Jyoti at the capital foundation venue on Tuesday and asked the officials to ensure that all arrangements were in place for the event by Wednesday.

“The lighting of the holy fire should inspire all the people to build a world class capital,” Mr. Naidu said.

‘Bhoomi pooja’

After inspecting the main stage and the venue spread across 250 acres, he appreciated the efforts of Guntur district administration in ensuring that most works had been completed.

District Collector Kantilal Dande said the construction of main stage measuring 80 X 60 feet had been completed.

Apart from the stage, the foundation stone laying venue would have a ‘Yaga Sala,’ where the bhoomi pooja would be performed.

Fool-proof arrangements

The Chief Minister was particular about ensuring that security, protocol and food arrangements were foolproof.

Special ritual

Earlier, Mr. Naidu performed a special pooja at the venue opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University where ‘putta mannu’ and sacred water from the 13 districts of the State was consecrated at an all religious prayer.

They were brought in specially decorated trucks with a representation of prominent temples in the State.

As part of the ‘Mana Matti-Mana Neeru,’ programme, sacred water from Triveni Sangamam, Ananthalakshmi Temple in Annavaram and other temples were brought in the trucks.

Replicas of temples at Tirumala and Dwaraka Tirumala also attracted visitors at the venue.
