Minister lays stone for canal deepening works

Minister for Irrigation and Command Area Development Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Sunday said that the government would do everything possible to ensure accountability in the irrigation projects so that the fruits of development in the sector would reach the farmers in the State.

During his visit to the Nellore district, Mr. Rao along with Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana visited the Kavali canal and laid foundation stone for the canal deepening and widening works there.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rao said that over 2.5 lakh acres would be provided assured water with the help of nearly 230 lift irrigation schemes in the State.
