Three persons were arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of a man in Atmakar on October 10, said the police.

At a press conference here on Monday, Anantapur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) J. Venkata Rao said the key accused, Gulli Narasimha Reddy, was a nephew of Keshav Reddy, who was killed owing to a property dispute.

Mr. Rao said Narasimha had hired G. Vishwanadha Reddy and Sake Venkateshulu alias Varadappa for ₹10,000 to kill Keshav. The three hatched the conspiracy on October 4 and on October 10, Narasimha went out of the village as the two others waited for Keshav at his field with sickles.

As Keshav arrived there at 11 a.m. on a motorcycle, the two hit his head with boulders, after which a scuffle ensued and he fell unconscious. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.

Testimonies of children who were playing nearby and had seen the two going towards the crime spot and a dog squad that sniffed out the house of the accused gave police leads. A cell phone recovered from also gave clues. The accused were arrested by Circle Inspector Prasada Rao and moved to a hospital for medical examination.
