Telugu Desam national general secretary Nara Lokesh has said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy owes an apology to the people of Andhra Pradesh for opposing the Pattiseema irrigation project.
Mr. Lokesh, accompanied by senior TDP leaders Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Krishna district TDP president B. Arjunudu and former Machilipatnam Member of Parliament K. Narayana, on Tuesday performed puja as water from the Pattiseema project entered the Krishna river at Seetarampuram village near Hanuman Junction in Krishna district.
“Earlier, Mr. Reddy had openly opposed the Pattiseema irrigation project in the State Assembly. He owes an apology as the water was being drawn through the project from the Godavari river for the irrigation needs of the Krishna district,” said Mr. Lokesh while addressing the gathering. Hundreds of farmers joined the puja.
“The YSRCP government, led by Mr. Reddy, has celebrated the ‘farmers day’ without ensuring supply of seeds in the Rayalaseema region. On the other hand, construction of all the major projects have come to a standstill in the State,” pointed out Mr. Lokesh.
Mr. Lokesh said that Ministers have no clarity on the beneficiaries of the ‘Amma Vodi’ scheme, while Mr. Reddy stopped implementing a slew of schemes like Yuva Nestham, Chandranna Bhima and Mid-Day Meal for Intermediate students. “The people would dethrone Mr. Reddy if he continues to stop implementing the welfare schemes,” added the TDP leader.
Warns YSRCP
Referring to alleged attacks on TDP activists by the YSRCP workers, Mr. Lokesh warned Mr. Reddy that the YSRCP supporters would be in trouble if the TDP resorts to similar acts.
“Our party has shown enough patience towards the physical attacks on our supporters in villages and such attacks should be stopped with immediate effect,” said Mr. Lokesh.
