IT and Panchayat Raj Minister N. Lokesh has rubbished the corruption charges levelled by BJP Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao in the opening of a large number Personal Deposit (PD) accounts in Andhra Pradesh.
Opening of the PD Accounts was an accepted practice, and even the BJP-ruled States had hundreds of such accounts. Did Mr. Rao mean that scams were taking place there too, he questioned here on Thursday. He was speaking to the media after addressing a conference on e-governance. Taking exception to Mr. Rao “creating a scene” when the TDP leaders went to meet Union Minister Piyush Goyal over the railway zone issue, Mr. Lokesh said people were watching the BJP leaders and would teach them a lesson.
He regretted that neither the Railway Minister nor the Prime Minister made any categorical statement on the railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters.
On the election of the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, he said parties that had a secret understanding sailed with the BJP.
He asserted that the TDP would continue its fight against the BJP at the State and national levels to defeat it in the 2019 elections.
The BJP, which is levelling corruption charges against the TDP, was siding with YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had several cases pending against him, and its double standards were quite evident, he pointed out.
