Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLA K.T. Rama Rao has promised that once Telangana as a separate State became a reality, the party would strive harder, for a 10-fold increase in the development achieved thus far, in Information Technology and other sectors.
He was addressing the first meeting of the newly-formed Telangana IT Association (TIA) comprising techies here on Sunday. He ridiculed the claims of Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu at his meetings that he was single-handedly responsible for getting Hyderabad the distinction of being called ‘Cyberabad’, apart from its strides in the IT, bio-technology, infrastructure and pharma sectors.
“Mr. Naidu should realise that ever since the economic reforms and liberalisation process started during the time of late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, who hailed from Telangana, several cities across the country had witnessed a boom in the said sectors,” Mr. Rama Rao said.
He urged the techies to leverage the potential of social media, saying that while it would increase awareness among different sections of people, also serve as an effective counter to those who were spreading disinformation about the after-effects of separation.
Among others present were educationist and former Member of the Legislative Council, Chukka Ramaiah, TRS leaders Sravan Dasoju, Kattela Srinivas Yadav and Balka Suman, NALSAR University of Law faculty member Madabhushi Sridhar, TIA president Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Telangana Employees Association president C. Vittal and political analyst V. Prakash.
In his address, Mr. Sridhar said there was every need for the struggle demanding a separate State to intensify, shift gears and bring pressure on the powers-that-be to introduce a Bill in Parliament. The struggle was born of decades of apprehension, insult and neglect, he pointed out, as proof of the people’s travails.
