The Guntur police on Thursday handed over the 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted by a 45-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, also a former BSF jawan, to her parents ending their 45-day ordeal. Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao will present the accused before the media on Friday.

Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari was present as Guntur Rural Superintendent of Police K. Narayan Naik handed over the girl to her parents at the Inspection Bungalow. Later, she was taken to the Government General Hospital for medical examination.

Mr. Naik said that he personally brought the girl from Samba tahsil in Kashmir to Delhi and later to Vijayawada. The accused is being escorted by police officers in a train.

Expressing concern over the manner in which the girl was trapped by the man, the SP pointed out that parents should take utmost care while bringing up their children. In this case, the girl was staying in her grandmother’s house at Bhattirprolu and her parents used to visit her house once a week. The girl, a student of Class 8, was staying with her grandmother. She along with other students used to be dropped at the ZP School by the auto driver. The man is believed to have trapped some other girls too, but he abducted this girl after selling his auto.

“It’s the responsibility of the parents to give their complete attention to children. The innocent girl was trapped by the man, who knew about her condition,” the SP said.
