Says he never undermined the police force

Taking exception to the statements of District Police Officers’ Association secretary Gorantla Madhav, TDP MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy has resolved to lodge a complaint against him with the Governor and the DGP.

Terming Mr. Madhav’s statements as unfortunate, Mr. Reddy said on Friday that he never spoke against the police in a demeaning manner. “I had only expressed my anger at the “police inaction” during the two days of violence that led to the death of a person in Tadipatri, he said. “What else do the police officers expect us to do? Should I not criticise them even if they fail to discharge their duty properly ?” Mr. Reddy asked at a press conference at Tadipatri.

The police officers should have complained to an appropriate authority if they were aggrieved with my statements, Mr. Reddy said, and added that he would take this to the notice of the DGP and seek action against the police officers. Continuing his tirade, he asked Mr. Madhav as to where he wanted him to come to settle the issue.

“Remove your police uniform and come. I will also come as a common man,” Mr. Reddy said.
