Family members remain with the YSRC chief in ICU

Doctors at the Government General Hospital at Guntur said YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was responding to treatment. “He has the body of an athlete and we are relieved that he began responding to the treatment,” said a doctor.

A health bulletin released by GGH showed that his blood pressure stood at 130/80, ketone levels 3+ and uric acid 13.2. His sugar levels, which had dropped to below 70 mg, have now reached the normal level.

YSR Congress leaders and workers staged a protest demonstration at the Podila Prasad GMCANA superspecialty block at the Government General Hospital here where Leader of the Opposition Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy was forcibly administered intravenous fluids to break his fast on Tuesday.

Mr. Jagan was earlier shifted from the venue and admitted to GGH.

Even as the treatment began at the cardiac ICU on the second floor of the building, hundreds of supporters reached the GGH. Police had a tough time in controlling the crowds and as supporters surged in the GGH, the Arundelpet RoB was closed for traffic for about half an hour.

Family members, including Mr. Jagan’s wife Bharathi Reddy, his sister Sharmila and mother Y.S Vijayamma were with Mr. Jagan in the ICU.

Senior party leaders Y. Vijay Sai Reddy, Botcha Satyanarayana, Marri Rajasekhar and Lella Appireddy later announced that the party would take up a relentless campaign on the special category status across the 13 districts starting from October 14.

Protest rally planned at CM’s camp office

Party workers would take part in a protest rally from PWD grounds to the CM’s camp office on Wednesday. On October 17, relay hunger strikes would be launched in all districts, followed by rallies, dharna and candle light rally.

In Kurnool YSRC activists led by Kurnool MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy and his Kodumur counterpart Mani Gandhi staged a blindfolded demonstration at the Sri Krishnadevaraya statue here on Tuesday, deploring the arrest of their party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

The protesters raised slogans against the government accusing the latter of deliberately foiling Mr. Jaganmohan’s indefinite fast seeking Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh..

Meanwhile, former Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and party activists took out a protest rally from Pulivendula bus stand in Kadapa district, resenting Mr. Jaganmohan arrest. Mr. Vivekananda Reddy charged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu with using pressure tactics ‘against the Opposition party leaders who were agitating for a genuine cause’.

In Badvel constituency, YARC MLA B. Jayaramulu and party leader Vijayapratap Reddy also organised a motorcycle rally at Porumamilla
